The Hooponopono Method is an effective technique for achieving harmony at the level of body, speech and mind. It is a profound practice that frees you from destructive subconscious programs. The key to liberation is taking responsibility for your life.
The word 'hooponopono' translates as 'correct the mistake'. The basis of the method is understanding one's unconsciousness. It is impossible to predict how a person will behave in the next moment. Decisions are made automatically, according to the programs laid down by family and society. That is why many decisions can be wrong, regretted later. Understanding this, a person learns to get rid of accumulated programs, to restore self-identity (mind) to its original state.
Thanks to such purification, the painful desire to control life decreases, it becomes easier to accept what is going on, prejudices and egoistic demands are released. One learns to act in harmony with one's conscience: to notice mistakes, recognize them, repent and do things differently from now on.
Hooponopono meditation originated about 5,000 years ago in the Polynesian culture. This culture considered the laws of nature to be sacred. Bad thoughts and actions lead to the violation of these laws, resulting in illness and sorrow. Polynesians conducted special rituals to correct mistakes in their relationship with the world,
The main tool was confession. Secrecy was believed to fuel evil. Once a mistake is confessed, it no longer has power. This overlaps to some extent with the psychotherapeutic approach: most human suffering is due to ignorance of one's true motivations and unawareness of one's actions. The same postulate can be deduced from any spiritual tradition: "Evil is recognized, evil is acknowledged, evil no longer has power"..
In Europe, the Hawaiian technique of hooponopono became known thanks to the works of Joe Vitale and Hugh Lee.
Dr. Hugh Lee
He worked as a psychotherapist in a clinic for severe mental patients recognized as hopeless by official medicine. He took the medical records of patients and worked on himself with the help of the Hooponopono method. In doing so, the patients miraculously recovered until the department closed down completely, as there were no patients left.
Joe Vitale
Joe Vitale is an American entrepreneur and author of books on marketing and self-discovery. He learned about the mass healing of the mentally ill by Dr. Hugh Lee, interviewed him and passed on the principles of this technique in his books.
Hooponopono allows you to find and make contact with God within yourself, and learn to purify your thoughts, words, actions and deeds. It is a process of complete liberation from the past.
The essence of the method is the reprogramming of the subconscious mind through the passage of four steps: remorse, forgiveness, gratitude, love.
Understanding of Hooponopono method is possible thanks to the knowledge that everything is energy: material objects, elements, electromagnetic waves, thoughts. All energy impulses and forms are interconnected, each cell is capable of carrying and transmitting information. All people are parts of a big whole. Every thought, action, word - all this has consequences both for the person himself and for others.
Hooponopono harmonizes a person's physical body and energy. Just like Om mantra in yoga, Jesus prayer in Christianity or metta meditation in Buddhism, hooponopono phrases change the crystal lattice of liquids. And since a person is 60-70% water, purification at the molecular level takes place, the biochemistry of body fluids and tissues changes. The structure of cells acquires a form that rejects negativity. Subtle bodies are also cleansed, and as they are cleansed, negative emotions and related problems are released.
Problems that hooponopono solves:
- healing illnesses;
- loss of meaning in life, depression;
- the search for purpose;
- failure;
- repetitive situations;
- exhaustion, burnout;
- stress, fatigue;
- unlocking intuition;
- financial problems.
The list can go on ad infinitum.
- People do not know the real reasons for what is happening.
One cannot truly know what is happening, neither own karma nor the karma of other living beings. Therefore, one cannot judge anyone: an outwardly seemingly evil person may turn out to be an enlightened being.
- Human is not controlling everything.
Logically, if a person does not know the causes of what is happening, he cannot control it. The total control is an illusion. But there is always a choice of how to react to events.
- Human is responsible for everything that happens to him.
Everyone creates reality at every moment, but is unable to notice it. There is an infinite number of signals in space that we are not able to catch (radio waves, thought forms, etc.). At the same time, the fact remains that man himself is the root cause of everything that happens to him.
- Human is capable of solving any problem.
If you notice a problem outwardly and it evokes an emotional response, you can solve it by changing yourself.
- Inspiration is far more important than intention.
Intentions are of the mind. Inspiration is the power of Source. It is important to develop humility, unhurriedness, and refine perception. "Live like the birds of heaven...".
Because of its simplicity, the technique may seem unworkable. But if you practice it regularly, say the phrases correctly, with an open heart, the result may not be quick, but it will definitely be.
Hooponopono phrases:
- «I'm sorry» — realization and acknowledgement of the act.
- «Please forgive me» — recognizing responsibility for what happened.
- «Thank you» — expressing gratitude for bringing in a situation that gave a chance to realize something.
- «I love you» — opens the heart chakra and transforms negative energy.
What is important for beginning practitioners to know about hooponopono
- The order of the steps is not important.
- The phrases are addressed to oneself, to neighbors, to the Universe.
- Repetition mentally or aloud.
- Practicing anywhere, anytime.
- Do not use practice mechanically, do everything consciously.
- Keep a benevolent attitude.
In answer to their prayers, people get what they feel rather than what they say they feel. Most people pray out of desperation..... Which means they get what they feel - more desperation!
Joe Vitale
- Don't chase results.
Expectations are an illusion. Being in the waiting mode, a person lives in dreams. This awakens fears: "What if it doesn't work out, it happened before, it didn't work out".. This is how one gets stuck in the past. Focusing on the future or the past is a drain of energy into the illusory space. There is no energy left for creation in this reality.
